Art Deco Emerald Pate De Verre Glass & Interlocking Chain Necklace, France 1920s
Offered here is an Art Deco necklace of emerald pate de verre poured glass and interlocking chain, from France in the 1920s.
The centerpiece is a stunning piece of "melon" pate de verre glass in a deep emerald hue, suspended between two lengths of silver interlocking chain with multiple overlapping etched & smooth rings, finished with an exceptional clasp comprised of two flattened balls of the "melon" glass that fasten by screwing one into the other.
This is a singular and eloquent expression of French glass-making and jewelry design in the Art Deco era; the emerald glass glows from within in a ravishing display of color and light. It is extremely rare to find these intact and unblemished, as this one is; the glass is beautifully free of any chips, nicks, cracks, or scratches, and the links are uninterrupted and completely original.
Dimensions: 18.5"L; center bead is 1.2"L x 0.65"W; chain is 0.35"W
